Before I Go To Sleep by S.J. Watson

This book was so good and unputdownable (partly because I was a little scared to sleep after reading it...)

Christine was an interesting character and you get so pulled in with the story you almost feel like you're in her head as well, as evidenced by the heart pounding and gasping I experienced while reading. I loved how creepy the novel is and I was happy that I was close to figuring it out, but didn't quite make it. I like books where you can start piecing together things on your own, but I still like to be surprised a bit and this book did an amazing job of doing exactly that. Also, the way the author wrote this book still had me clinging to every wood and flipping every page even though I had a feeling certain things might be coming.

Also, the reveals were slower and somewhat piece-meal. So there was not just one big twist/reveal, but several over the course of the book. I loved that about this book.

I also loved the rare amnesia this author created in order to make the book even more thrilling. Being able to keep your memories throughout the day but resetting every night make for a frustrating and slow progress in finding the truth, but it also made it more exciting. Would she wake up this day and find new clues, or be stuck believing what was told to her?

Such a different story and pretty unsettling but an incredibly enjoyable read that I'd recommend to fans of thrillers and mysteries.

Synopsis: Christine wakes up every morning in an unfamiliar bed with an unfamiliar man. She looks in the mirror and finds an unfamiliar middle-aged face. Every morning, the man has to explain he is Ben, her husband, she is 47 and was in a terrible accident with brain damage that prevents her from making new memories. Every day, Christine tries to reconstruct her past and gets closer and closer to an impossible truth.
