When the Dead Have it Easy by B.L. Brunnemer

When the Dead Have it Easy (The Veil Diaries Book 7) by B.L. Brunnemer

I've been reading this series since the beginning and was so excited for this book to come out as the romantic plotline was expected to move forward. So far, I think this is one of my favorite of the series as the writing really made you feel all the emotions with the characters and it becomes a bit deeper.

This series is a reverse harem, paranormal romance so I only suggest it to those interested in the genre. I have read a lot of this genre recently as I became mildly obsessed, and this is my favorite by far. B.L. Brunnemer has created some amazing characters in this series, and you can always tell who is talking out of the 6 main characters as she has made their personality and voice so distinct, a difficult feat. This is especially important for a reverse harem; loving the same exact 5 guys doesn't make any sense. With these 6 characters, you get sensitivity, broodiness, silliness, friendship and loyalty, and romance. I am constantly entertained by the conversations and antics of these 6 friends and the paranormal action is a perfect balance of a different world though not too complex to understand.

This installment has new developments on the paranormal front that are directly impacting the main characters and setting up for an intriguing plot. There was also significant development of the romantic relationships as due to the fact it's a "slow burn", things were progressing very slowly to begin with. Which is something I truly appreciate about this series as the relationships feel very real and it's more understandable that they progressed as they did.

I truly love this series because it's so fun and also provokes such real emotions. I love seeing how everything plays out and how the characters grow since they are starting in just high school. There's pain and joy, struggles and triumphs, all things a great story needs. Cannot wait for the next installment, as usual, to see what happens next!

Synopsis: My name is Alexis, Lexie to most everyone. And I’m a Necromancer. It’s not as much fun as it sounds but that’s not the problem this time. I haven’t seen anyone but Miles in the last month since New Orleans. Talking on the phone? Yeah. Well, except for Zeke. A few text messages was all I’ve gotten. Until now.
We’re going on the guys’ yearly climbing and camping trip. With all of our secrets out, the tension between everyone is high. Everyone is pissed at each other and I’m just trying to keep my head above water.
But it’s time for a decision. Who am I going to be with? Will I end up with anyone? Will our family stay together?
