The Thirteenth Tale by Diane Setterfield

This book is for those that love books. In each carefully crafted word and sentence, you can see the author’s love of literature and words. Setterfield beautifully crafted so many passages with wonderful language and style that had me rereading just so I could feel the warmth in my soul over and over again as I read them.

The House of the Spirits by Isabel Allende

Isabel Allende’s works were recommended to me by a follower after I read One Hundred Years of Solitude by Gabriel García Márquez and was pretty lost. This book, The House of the Spirits by Isabel Allende, is of a similar genre but a bit easier to read.

A Conjuring of Light by V.E. Schwab

This was the final installment of a fantastic series that I read within a couple months because I just had to know how it ended. Although I did enjoy this book as well, the first two in the series were definitely better. This one was a touch too long and certain developments with the characters were slight disappointments. So I'm on the fence between 3.5 -4 stars.

The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas

I’m sorry, I’m fangirling hard right now. Needless to say, I would 100% recommend this novel; it’s a time commitment yes, but worth every moment spent. It should be a classic spoken about more often because I believe it’s truly timeless and easily relatable even a hundred-fifty years later.

Whispers of Nowhere by Shannon Rohrer

Overall, I enjoyed this book as it had an interesting plot filled with some Greek mythology, Gods and daemons. The character development and arcs were good and added to the overall plot. There’s a lot of action and a lot of things are revealed, but it’s written in an easier way to read so you don’t get lost in the chaos.

A Gathering of Shadows by V.E. Schwab

As always, V.E. Schwab has a wonderful way of creating complex characters and compelling fantasy worlds that are so real you feel like you could step through the pages and walk right alongside them. She is quickly becoming one of my favorite fantasy authors as she writes these worlds with a fantastic balance of descriptive, action and emotional scenes. You begin to love the world she created while also loving her twisted characters.

When the Dead Have it Easy by B.L. Brunnemer

I've been reading this series since the beginning and was so excited for this book to come out as the romantic plotline was expected to move forward. So far, I think this is one of my favorite of the series as the writing really made you feel all the emotions with the characters and it becomes a bit deeper.

I'll Be Gone in the Dark by Michelle McNamara

This was an amazing piece of true crime and investigative journalism. What made it even more amazing is that not only do you get the story of a serial killer, you also hear about it from a fascinating woman obsessed with finding the killer in a non-biased, factual manner.

Between Sisters by Kristin Hannah

Kristin Hannah’s, The Nightingale is one of my favorite WWII books due to it's creativity and writing style. After I read that, I knew I had to read more of her books. I finally listened to Between Sisters and although it won't be making my favorites list, I really enjoyed this story of familial love.

Where the Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens

This is my first 5/5 star read of 2019 which seems kind of crazy since it's already April and I've almost read about 30 books. It is so beautifully written and perfectly balances a story of growing up and survival along with a murder mystery that makes every page so intriguing and enthralling that so many readers will find themselves enjoying it.

A Darker Shade of Magic by V.E. Schwab

It is a darker fantasy novel but almost reads like a fairytale which is why I found it such a compelling read. It contradicts itself just enough to pull you in and capture you in the intriguing plot and characters that you never went to let go. Luckily, there are more installments to this series that I'll be able to read very soon!

The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck by Mark Manson

Overall, I enjoyed it and was happy to listen to the book that I've been seeing pop-up in a lot of places. However, I feel like I only got so much out of this book and at times I felt like Manson was just reiterating the same few points over and over again.

The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up by Marie Kondō

I recently watched Marie Kondō's Netflix Series and became mildly obsessed with the idea of decluttering and then reorganizing; so I decided to also read her book that started it all. Although a bit ridiculous at times-I'm not about to say hello and thank you to my clothes throughout the day- I did get some great advice from reading this book.
