I thoroughly enjoyed Novik’s take on popular fairytales as told in Uprooted and Spinning Silver . This dark magical world and school is very different than Hogwarts. Here, the school is only run by magic, not teachers, and rather than having a rare death, the school has a rare survival rate and very few graduates. Interested yet?

Spinning Silver by Naomi Novik

I absolutely loved Naomi Novik's first book in this fantastical world, Uprooted and waited anxiously for this one. Although not the same characters as in Uprooted, Naomi was a way of writing these fantasy worlds and characters that is so magical and I definitely enjoyed this book almost as much as Uprooted.

I was hooked on this book with the first couple pages, I just had to know what happened. It was a charming, exciting and very well-written book that I'd definitely recommend.
